Taco Rice
Taco-rice is an Okinawan dish consisting of ground beef, cheese, lettuce and tomato on rice, seasoned with salsa sauce. A cook in a Kin Town restaurant is credited for creating the dish in 1984. He wanted to have a new dish with more volume than normal tacos because his mainstay American customers had cut down eating out due to the high value of the yen at that time. Now the dish is served in many restaurants everywhere on Okinawa.
