Located at Goya, Okinawa City, the shop is well known to the local community. The shop used to sell sashimi until 2002 when they changed to selling tempura. Uema family runs the business, hence the name of the shop.

Uema is a very common family name in Okinawa. The shop sells bento lunches and inexpensive tempura with prices ranging from ¥50 to ¥100 per piece.

The food is affordable and tastes very good. Currently there are five “Uema Bento & Tempura” shops in Okinawa. The are located in Noborikawa and Yamauchi in Okinawa City, Katsuren in Uruma, Ganeko in Ginowan and Makiminato in Urasoe.
