Saion Square is a residential, shopping and entertainment complex located at the northern end of Kokusai Street straddling Asato and Makishi districts of Naha that opened in 2011.

The area was developed not only to lure people back to Kokusai Street and central Naha, but also to avert frequent floods of Asato River during heavy rains.

Asato River used to stream in a meandering and narrow channel, and as a part of this project, it was straightened and widened, and new terrace stages were constructed on the banks of the river.
