“The Road Through The Sea” is what the Kaichu Doro is called. It is a 4.5 kilometer long bridge that slices through the sea that connects Katsuren and Henza Island. It is a route to access Miyagi and Ikei islands. Halfway across this highway is a rest area that includes parking and Umi no Eki Ayahashi Hall where you can find restaurants and museum. Local people and tourists alike enjoy clamming, swimming and relaxing on the beach.
