Ucchin
Ucchin is Okinawan dialect for turmeric, a spice originating from Asia’s tropical regions.
It is known in Okinawa as a medicine for liver ailments since the Ryukyu kingdom days. Having plenty of curcumine and high anti-oxidant properties, it is believed to be a remedy for hangover, high blood pressure, diabetes, cancer prevention, and other ailments.
Okinawans drink a lot of turmeric tea. Some brew it fresh, but most simply buy cans or powdered instant versions on local stores.
