MOZUKU (seaweed)
The 3rd Sunday of April is a Mozuku Day in Okinawa. The harvest season of mozoku lasts from the end of March to beginning of July. The seaweed has been gaining popularity lately because a substance that kills cancer cells has been discovered from mozuku. It also has other health-promoting benefits, including improvement of liver function, anemia, and swelling. Various events related to mozuku will be held in Okinawa.
