Ishidatami of Kinjyo town

Stone-paved street in Kinjo town, Shuri

This street was in old times called “Madama-michi” and it was the main passage to Naha Port and further southward from Shuri Castle during the Ryukyu kingdom era. About 300m the Ryukyu limestone-paved street still remains today.

Many classic buildings with red roof tiles line both sides of the street. This walkway has been designated as one of “the 100 best scenic roads in Japan.”
