Fukugi Street
There is a 100-meter long street lined with Fukugi trees in Bise, Motobu, the northern part of Okinawa. Fukugi tree was brought from the Philippines to Okinawa during the Ryukyu Kingdom days, when this tree was planted all over the Island as a protection against typhoon or raging sea waves. The yellow bark of the tree is also used as thread and in making dye for bingata cloth.
