Hidekatsu is an Okinawan musician from Taketomi Island. Hidekatsu, who was born in 1961, says the greatest influences in his musical career have been his mother and grandmother who both are singers who regularly perform in the island’s traditional events.

After moving to Tokyo, he created his own specific style, marked by his use of an ancient Asian guitar, and released his first song “Miruku Munari” in 1993. Miruku Munari has since become a very famous song that is much used in Eisa performances. Currently, he is working not only as a musician but is also a producer.
